Sunrise Hot Air Balloon over Marrakech + Berber Breakfast

The entertainment at the end with everyone dancing together was amazing. Our tour guide Houcine Baraj helped make this such a memorable experience—he was great fun and shared interesting facts about the history of Morocco. Anyone looking for a guide for this experience, he’s your man!

The activity itself was amazing. The balloon ride started at 07:00, with an early pick-up at 05:15 am. Once on-site, the pre-dawn atmosphere added to the excitement. After a clear safety briefing, we enjoyed a wonderful flight with panoramic views of the sunrise over the Atlas Mountains and Marrakech hills. The pilot was highly professional and attentive, and the Berber breakfast afterward was delicious.

The activity was perfectly organized and made for a great morning in the hot air balloon. Our pilot was funny, informative, and took great pictures of everyone. Thank you so much!

I’m so glad I did this! I was traveling alone and nervous about heading into the desert in the dark, but I was picked up with a friendly group of tourists and immediately felt comfortable. The hot air balloon experience was stunning, safe, and truly magical—I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

This was well worth every penny and the early morning start! We had a great time, and our pilot, Read, was top notch! I must commend the excellent customer service we received, particularly from our driver (whose name I sadly cannot remember). My husband dropped his phone in the car, and our driver brought it all the way back to our accommodation the next day at no extra cost! The breakfast and refreshments were great! We would definitely do this again 😊

Fabulous experience! Out pilot, Lina, was excellent- youngest female ballon pilot in Africa! If you want to see the sunrise from the balloon, you need to choose the earliest flight. Lovely breakfast afterwards.

This is one of the most incredible experiences that I have ever done in my life! It really was magical and a once in a lifetime moment! The whole team behind our trip was incredible- our driver Abdul was great and looked after us. You get to the venue very early and are offered drinks and pastries, there’s little fires to keep you warm because it’s chilly in the desert before sunrise. Then you go to your balloon- the whole process is seamless which was very reassuring! Our pilot was a lady and she was super cool and friendly! We were up in the air ready for the sunrise and it was so magical! You come down and then it’s time for breakfast- we initially thought it was the pastries but no, it’s a proper breakfast!! Everything was fresh and clean!! This trip was amazing and super great value!!! Everyone should try this trip!!! 🥰

Before the flight, we enjoyed the most delicious croissants, and after landing, we were treated to an authentic and flavorful Berber breakfast served in a cozy desert tent. The activity itself was amazing, the balloon ride itself starts at 07:00 so pick up can be much earlier depending on where you are staying. My pick up was at 05:15 am. Then a drive with 4 other participants. Not much information was given on arrival, we were directed to a large tent, where hot drinks and juices were available. No formal greeting or explanation of what was going to happen. Just before departure to the Balloon site we were all called forward to go and only then realised that we had to locate our original driver, that was messy in the pre dawn light. We were then driven to site straight to our designated balloon, given a safety briefing and information before take off which was excellent and clear. Followed by a wonderful flight with panoramic views of the sunrise over the Atlas Mountains and a view of the two hills of Marrakech. The pilot was very professional and attentive. The landing was sort and the return Berber breakfast was wonderful and enjoyable.

I am so glad I did this activity I was travelling alone and quite nervous to go into the desert in the darkness of the night. I was picked up in a van with other tourists inc a family so I was put at ease. The tour was very well run and organised. The hot air balloon felt very safe and the most stunning magical experience. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Everything about this trip was amazing and it was so well organised. Or pilot Lina was amazing, lots of fun and we felt so safe with her and her crew which were also lovely. Breakfast was an incredible feast after the ride. Highly recommend this trip.

The pilot Santo made to give 5 stars. Nice ride. he is very friendly and very experienced. the friendly people waiting on us on the place were amazing. very friendly. I didn’t like that our driver make us to wait on a cold morning 🤧 meanwhile our driver was sleeping in the car. it was a cold day. I got sick after that. but I enjoyed the adventure.

The breakfast was delicious and ready for us when we returned from the flight. A truly unforgettable experience!

It was a great experience with the company. They were very accommodating and prompt for the comfort and experience. Yanis was great at the ballon flight with his experience and nice nature. We enjoyed the flight, clicked amazing pictures and he helped us with all the questions and explained how balloon flight works which was a great learning experience. We had a wonderful time in the hot air balloons at Marrakech by Air. Everything was well organised and taken care of by the team. We flew with our two year old daughter and Marrakech by Air is one of the few tour companies that allows children below 4 to fly. My baby girl enjoyed her time flying over the Atlas Mountains and watching the beautiful sunrise. The captian and his team from the air balloon made sure everyone was comfortable and happy throughout the ride. The tour included a scrumptious Moroccan breakfast spread in traditional style too. Made our day

Communication when we arrived was not good. Served croissants and drinks and presumed we then got on our flight – but back in minibus to drive to where balloon had landed. Everyone felt irritated but that quickly went when we finally got up in balloon.

One of the best experiences of my life from start to finish our pilot Yannis was superb and so informative and funny,to be able to witness the sun rising above the Atlas mountains with my family was truly spectacular and it didn’t end there on landing which was seamless we were presented with a beautiful traditional breakfast all in all it’s a must do while you visit this amazing country.

A truly magical experience. From pick up to drop off, every member of staff was amazing. The pilot on the balloon really made it a fun experience and the views were just something else. There were pastries and tea/coffee/fruit juice before the flight and a lovely sit down traditional breakfast afterwards. If you’re thinking about booking, do it, you won’t regret it. Was the best part of our trip!

The excursion was great, picked up on time from our reception hotel, journey was around 30mins to the location. Morning coffee, hot chocolate and pastry was delicious. We had to wait around 30 mins which was chilly so bring a jumper or blanket. The take off and landing were smooth and our pilot Yanis was great! The breakfast was lovely afterwards and we were back at our hotel by 0945am. Thank you!

The balloon flight and our pilot were fantastic! However, I do want to mention that we were expecting to see the sunrise, but since we arrived around 8 AM, the sun was already up, and we had to wait for the balloon to land before our turn. Also, be aware that you’ll be sharing the balloon with at least 10 other people – we weren’t aware beforehand that so many passengers would be on the same flight.

Loved the flight – the pilot was very experienced so it was super smooth and the ground crew was excellent. You eat a coffee and pastry first, then go up in the balloon, then come back for full breakfast- so no insta photos of lattes in the sky.

Unforgettable Day in Agafay Desert What an incredible experience! Idris was such a warm and passionate guide — he really made the day special. We visited a women’s argan oil cooperative, watched a stunning desert sunset, and enjoyed a delicious dinner under the stars with live Berber music and a fire show. Everything was perfectly organised, relaxed, and full of heart. I left with amazing memories and a real appreciation for Moroccan culture. Highly recommend! 🌅✨

Wow what a trip. Everything was amazing!!! We were lucky enough to get Lena as our pilot, who at 22 is the youngest female pilot in Africa. She happily took the best photographs, played music, and made the flight a fun one to remember. This trip is a must!!!

Wow what a fantastic experience. We were on the sunrise trip and were picked up promptly by the included transfer from our hotel. The welcome at the camp with firepits etc was incredible. Seeing all the balloons inflated in the dark with the burners was a once in a lifetime experience. Our balloon pilot was superb and the entire team went above and beyond. Would completely recommend this trip to everybody, even those with a fear of heights( as my wife has but she loved it) All the team at Marrakech by air are very professional, thankyou to all.

I have wanted to go in a hot air balloon since I was 7 – now 60, mission accomplished! The whole trip was very well organised, with a light breakfast when we arrived, then driving to meet a balloon as it came down. Our pilot, Captain Yanis, was excellent! Entertaining and informative, making sure everyone was ok and included in the group experience. Delicious Berber breakfast followed. I’d definitely recommend!

Yanis was an incredible captain! He was funny, gave great information about the hot air balloon, and took some incredible photos of us! The breakfast was nice, we got a chance to meet some of the other tourists, and share a laugh. Transportation was timely and comfortable. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Would definitely recommend!

We had an amazing flight on the hot air balloon. Our driver was Sancho GG who was a fantastic pilot and made us all feel at ease! Very smooth takeoff and landing. Then we had a delicious breakfast.
